Acknowledgement of Country

Box Hill Institute acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters upon which our learning sites are situated. We pay respect to Elders past and present, and to leaders emerging.

On right: Family Is What You Make It, 2021, Acrylic on canvas by Emily, of the Wurundjeri people, former Box Hill Institute student.  'I painted this because I have a very large family that includes my extended family and friends that I have chosen as family. I believe that you definitely don't have to be blood related to be a family member. My painting symbolises the two sides to my family. The blue is my parents, siblings, children and other family members, and the dark purple is my extended family that I have chosen to be in my life. My painting shows both sides becoming one big family.'
